About Jeffrey
Why did you choose this program?
I chose this program to challenge myself, be in a field where I felt like I could make a tangible impact, and learn the tools necessary to succeed in any career.
How did this program prepare you for your job?
Although engineering is not directly related to flying planes, the scientific and engineering principles I learned and the professional development I gained in ERE have greatly improved my competency as a pilot and a flight instructor. What's more, having furthered my engineering education post Humboldt, I can confidently say that Cal Poly Humboldt's engineering curriculum stands apart from many other engineering bachelor's degrees in the amount of hands-on experience and extensive team collaboration gained. This unique experience helped me to stand out in the engineering job market and gave me the confidence to pursue more with a solid foundation of knowledge and experience.
What did you enjoy most about the program?
What I enjoyed the most about ERE was the community of classmates and professors, all sharing in a passion for environmental sustainability and engineered solutions to practical world problems.
What would you say to prospective students who are thinking about applying to this program?
This is a difficult program, but the skills you learn are invaluable and will set you up for innumerable opportunities, whether engineering or otherwise. Enjoy the opportunity to learn cool things and stay active in clubs and organizations on campus to meet new people and grow as an engineer and a person.
