About Michael
Why did you choose this program?
I picked Computer Science because I was very interested in getting a degree in something that wasn't going away any time soon. I didn't really do any research into this school's program necessarily as much as I fell in love with the environment surrounding the school.
How did this program prepare you for your job?
I would say my intro to database class did an excellent job in getting me familiar with SQL and providing me the materials that I refer to frequently. All the other CS related classes helped as well, but I definitely want to pay tribute to that database class (Sharon rocks).
What did you enjoy most about the program?
I really enjoyed how the professors would always let me bend their ears and how they would give me an understanding of the basics, but encourage me to do a lot of exploration on my own on how to implement something.
What would you say to prospective students who are thinking about applying to this program?
I would say that it is incredibly important to get to know your fellow classmates and network! There's a stereotype that CS people tend to be on their own, but most great tech/software out there that was done by teams of people from different backgrounds. Get to know each other and make those memories.
Don't get discouraged. Keep making improvements. Keep learning. The big tech companies out there aren't the only places to work. Almost every business out there has an IT team, keep your eyes peeled and you'll make it.
