About Pamela

How did this program prepare you for your job?

The program totally prepared me to be a social worker by talking about need vs. deserve, and discussing psychological issues, environmental issues, and social issues. I love my work and continue in private practice at age 74 full time.

What did you enjoy most about the program?

Talking to other students over tea and Beer Nuts in the cafeteria about the issues brought up in class. The Social Work world view and holistic approach to human behavior have stood me in good stead throughout my work even though I changed to art. It propelled me toward more degrees as I could never know enough.

What would you say to prospective students who are thinking about applying to this program?

Go for it! Social Work is life-affirming.

I really loved the beauty of Humboldt county and coming out of Founders Hall to see the sun setting on the Bay. We would take our dinner to the beach and go for walks through the beauty. We did not need money to entertain ourselves.
