Job description: Marnin Robbins oversees interpretation, education and outreach for the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, the largest state agency of its kind in the United States. In his role he is leading efforts to engage the public about some of the most pressing issues of our time including habitat loss, climate impacts to biodiversity, and what average Californians can do to connect with nature and conserve the natural world.
About Marnin
Why did you choose this program?
It is one of the only programs in the United States offering a degree in natural resources interpretation. Cal Poly Humboldt grads make up a large percentage of interpreters working in federal, state, and local agencies as well as non profit organizations.
How did this program prepare you for your job?
It provided a thorough overview of the field, an understanding of the theory and practical research in the field, and connections with agencies and organizations that continue to serve me today.
What did you enjoy most about the program?
A combination of classes in the natural resource sciences and humanities as well as in-depth classes in the field.
What would you say to prospective students who are thinking about applying to this program?
If you are interested in a career in the field of environmental education or natural resources interpretation, this is the program for you!
