2026 Workshop
Week One: June 21-27
Week Two: June 28-July 4
The longest-running chamber music workshop on the West Coast
The application is now open!
How to apply
The application is online, and paper applications are no longer sent in the mail. If you need an alternate way to apply, please email Terrie Baune, workshop director, at tb38@humboldt.edu for assistance.
All applications received by April 15 will be held until then and reviewed by the director after the deadline. You should expect to receive notice of acceptance by no later than April 30. You can email Terrie Baune at tb38@humboldt.edu at any time to check the status of your application.
Instrumental balance is the crucial consideration for each workshop week. The more flexible you can be regarding which week you are able to attend, the easier it is for us to put rosters together and the better your chances for acceptance (this holds especially true for first-time applicants).
All applicants must be over 18 years of age. If you are under 18, we recommend that you contact the Sequoia Chamber Music Workshop, a similar program for young musicians.
A $50 non-refundable application fee must be paid online by May 15. Upon acceptance into the workshop, you will then pay the tuition balance.

Workshop fee and cancellation policy
2026 Week 1 Workshop: $500
2026 Week 2 Workshop: $500
Upon acceptance into the program, the registration fee is due in full by June 1. The Humboldt Chamber Music Workshop encourages you to wait until you are reasonably sure of attending the workshop before you pay the registration and housing fees. Once the workshop and housing fees are paid, there are no refunds.
If you must withdraw from the program due to unforeseen circumstances, you may petition for a refund. It is your responsibility to email a request and provide evidence for the reason for withdrawal. Each petition will be reviewed by Humboldt Chamber Music Workshop staff and responded to within 14 business days with a response.
Accepted participants should pay their workshop registration fee online. Upon acceptance into the workshop, you will be provided with the fee payment link.
Optional campus housing
Housing, parking, and dining must be arranged directly with the Cal Poly Humboldt housing office. We will send information about how to register for optional on-campus housing with your acceptance notification.
2026 housing costs: Single rooms are $57 per person/per night. Double rooms are $46 per person/per night.
Financial assistance
Financial assistance may be available, and is made possible by the continuing generosity of workshop participants via the Tom Phillips Trust. Distributions will be made in June based on information gathered from a questionnaire sent in May to accepted applicants. Email Terrie Baune at tb38@humboldt.edu for details.
