CCAT Solar Thermal

CCAT’s main house/building structure was relocated during construction of the BSS building and during the relocation of the building structure, an existing solar thermal system had to be removed. Once the relocation effort of the building was completed, HEIF allocated approximately $16,643 to install two new evacuated tube panels on the roof of the Campus Center for Appropriate Technology(CCAT) and data monitoring equipment in order to maintain the pre-existing solar thermal technology.

SoRMS Upgrade- XHEF072

It was in Spring 2008 that RESU proposed to HEIF a request for funding required to complete Phase II of the SoRMS project. To make the system fully compatible with NREL’s MIDC, HEIF approved funding to purchase an ethernet jack to enable remote data acquisition from the station, and to purchase a third pyranometer for the system which will allow RESU to send a pyranometer to NREL for calibration without a disruption in data collection.

Old Music PV- XHEF071

In 2008, a team of students proposed the installation of a photovoltaic(PV) system on the Old Music Building roof. In an effort to develop Humboldt’s self-generation capability, the final installation of this 11.4 kW (DC) grid-connected array consisted of  60 panels. HEIF funded hardware and installation of the system, and the development of interpretive signs. In addition the project proposal called for the hiring of 2-5 students to help the solar contractor install the PV arrays.

Waste Diversion Receptacles- XHF002

In Fall 2008 a proposal was made to obtain five animal-proof compost bins, five additional liners for the bins, a digital scale to weigh the amount of compost for monitoring purposes and five locks for Cal Poly Humboldt (Humboldt).
