As director of the Waste Reduction Resource Awareness Program [WRRAP] compost program, Krissi is responsible for coordinating weekly food scraps collections from Housing and department locations across campus, managing operation of the Earth Tub in-vessel composter, distributing completed compost to students, and facilitating education and outreach campaigns to engage students in keeping food scraps out of the landfill.
Kelsey Taylor has been an extraordinary student since her first semester at Humboldt. Her academic interest and passion have been focused on learning about children with disabilities, their families, and comprehensive ways to support them in the community. She is a mature and thoughtful student who critically examines layers of complexity and makes meaningful connections between theories and practices.
Andy began his involvement at Y.E.S. [Youth Educational Services] by volunteering for the Environmental Education program. The Environmental Education program provides local children and youth with resources to explore nature and environmental issues through hands-on activities, crafts and workshops. After three consecutive semesters as a volunteer, Andy was selected for the Volunteer Director of Environmental Education Program. As the Director for the EE program, Andy is responsible for recruiting, training, and supporting university volunteers.
Brandi has been a committed volunteer, student leader, student assistant and ambassador at Youth Educational Services, otherwise known as YES. She leads by example with empathy and resilience. Thus far, Brandi has contributed 240 volunteer hours and 950 student staff hours at Y.E.S. Brandi has been a volunteer Co-Director of the ART program, Program Consultant who supports the directors, and the Lead Program Consultant at Y.E.S. This is the highest student leadership role at our student-led center.
