Elizabeth Hans McCrone

OLLI Instructor

Elizabeth Hans McCrone has an extensive background in media, public relations, teaching and wine education. She holds a master’s degree in broadcast communication arts, a bachelor’s degree in journalism, and a certificate in wine studies. She taught in the Humboldt State University Department of Journalism and Mass Communications as adjunct faculty for 17 years, and held several full-time public relations positions at PG&E, HSU, and College of the Redwoods.

Her passion for wine began in 2009 in Sonoma County where, while working on her wine studies certificate, she got a job as a tasting room associate at Francis Ford Coppola Winery in Geyserville. That endeavor blossomed into several different positions for her over the next eight years, as a trade tour host, wine club ambassador, and wine educator.

With two of her wine work colleagues, she helped to launch HSU’s first wine studies certificated program through the College of eLearning and Extended Education -- From Vine to Table. In 2011, she began writing independently for the Wine Industry Network, a prominent online wine trade publication, which she continues to do today.
