Propose to Teach a Course for Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Cal Poly Humboldt (OLLI at Humboldt)

Thank you for your interest in proposing to teach a course with OLLI at Humboldt!

OLLI brings together experienced and interesting professionals with a motivated group of learners. Classes have no homework or tests, and the most successful classes are those which are interactive and which respect and include the life experience of the members.

Fall 2025 classes will be held Sept. 15-Nov. 25, 2025.

Deadline for submission of regular OLLI classes is June 8, 2025. No classes on holidays or during campus closures.

New OLLI offering in fall 2025: 💥 Flash Talks 💥

This year is an especially exciting time to become an instructor with OLLI, as this fall OLLI at Humboldt is celebrating its 🎉20th🎉 anniversary! The Bernard Osher Foundation helped launch OLLI at Humboldt in 2005, and we are happy to continue carrying on his vision into the 2025-2026 OLLI year.

To celebrate, we’re introducing a special series of 💥Flash Talks💥 — 50-minute, online presentations that are engaging, informative, and just $20 each for everyone! These talks will showcase the passions and knowledge of our OLLI community while raising funds to support our programs for years to come.

If you have a topic you’re excited to share, we invite you to propose a Flash Talk and be part of this exciting milestone. It’s a great way to give back, connect, and celebrate everything that OLLI stands for.

Find details on these talks and the unique proposal form for this series below:

Note: The Flash Talks deadline is different from the regularly scheduled Fall 2025 course proposal deadline. Flash Talk Proposal Form will be due one week later than regular classes, on June 16, 2025 at 11:59 PM.

If you have any questions or need more information, please contact the OLLI Support Team.

Qualifications you'll need to be an OLLI instructor

All OLLI Instructors must be a 2025-26 OLLI member prior to teaching a class (2025-26 membership registration opens July 1, 2025).

If you are new to teaching for OLLI or the College of Extended Education & Global Engagement, please email a résumé or curriculum vitae to OLLI at olli@humboldt.edu, or mail to Cal Poly Humboldt, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, 1 Harpst St., Arcata, CA 95521.

How it works:

  • You propose a course, including a brief description, your preferred meeting dates and times.
  • After you submit the course proposal form, OLLI will notify you with a Notice of Receipt of OLLI class proposal, which will inform you of what to expect and the next steps.
  • Once the course is accepted, OLLI provides marketing, registers students, and collects payment.
  • The OLLI staff will set up and provide the link to online classes using the Zoom conferencing platform. An OLLI host will open each meeting, and you can choose the level of help you would like. We offer Zoom online orientation and training to all instructors and students by request.
  • You teach your course to a fabulous community of lifelong learners.
  • You are paid 50% of the income generated from the course.

Thank you for staying connected with OLLI at Cal Poly Humboldt!
