"Studies Show..." (Or Do They?): Under the Hood of a Scientific Study
Thu., Oct. 1-Nov. 5, 12-1:30 p.m.
Location: Online
Cost: $70
With John Hendrickson,, Professor, School of Molecular Sciences
What really changes when we read beyond the abstract? In this interactive course, we will open real research papers (many in health and nutrition) and explore what scientists actually look for. We will explore how small design choices can dramatically shape a study’s meaning, and why headlines rarely tell the full story. No technical background is required – just curiosity. By the end of the course, we will never read “studies show…” the same way again.
John Hendrickson, PhD, is a teaching professor in the School of Molecular Sciences at Arizona State University. He holds a PhD in chemistry and is the author of the textbook Chemistry in the World. His academic work centers on science communication and the reciprocal relationship between science and society.
Register by 12 p.m., September 12.
