The Cal Poly Humboldt  Collective is a group of faculty, graduate, and undergraduate students focused on studying the ecology, evolution, and conservation of birds at home and abroad.

What comes to mind when you think of Northern California? Majestic redwoods, rugged mountains, and seemingly endless expanses of rocky shoreline are just a few features associated with the area’s exquisite scenery. In addition to beauty, these same features comprise a diverse landscape that supports a dizzying array of marine, freshwater, and upland bird life. Northern California’s unique bird communities have attracted a dedicated group of ornithologists interested in studying avian ecology, evolution, and conservation.

The Wildlife Department at Cal Poly Humboldt serves as a vanguard for the area’s ornithological community where undergraduates have access to an unprecedented number of bird-centric courses and graduate students regularly collaborate with local Native American tribes, governmental, nonprofit, and private organizations to produce compelling research. The Cal Poly Humboldt Ornithology Collective supports avian scientists and students by enabling dialog, fostering collaboration
