After meeting at Humboldt State some 20 years ago, James Catlin (2002- Political Science and Economics) and Kristina have been married since 2010 and have two children. James is the Chief Macroeconomist at Value Investors Edge where he specializes in research and analysis of maritime trade. Kristina works for the State of California at the Department of Social Services. They currently reside in Southern California. They both share fond memories of their days as HSU students. James misses surfing alongside redwood lined cliffs and Smug's Pizza. Kristina misses all the amazing natural scenery. They can’t wait to have their children visit HSU when they are older.

Anthony Medrano
Politics, 2000
Anthony Medrano, 2000 Politics, worked at Ohio University for a few years and moved back to Hawaii before finally settling down near Lake Mendota, Wis., where he is a doctoral candidate in the Department of History at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Currently, Medrano is several miles away in Malaysian Borneo, conducting dissertation research as a Fulbright fellow. Medrano’s interest in the social history of oceans stems from his formative years at Humboldt and its intellectual ecology.

Katrina Hagen-Radlick, Politics, 1994, was recently appointed by the Governor as the Director of the Department of Industrial Relations, based in Oakland, California. The Department of Industrial Relation's core functions include: CalOSHA, Division of Workers Compensation, and the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement.
Katrina (Katie) S. Hagen Radlick

Katrina "Katie" S. Hagen Radlick, 1994, Politics and French, was appointed by Gov. Brown as the Chief Deputy Director of Operations at the state Dept. of Human Resources in March. Prior to this appointment, Radlick served as the Chief of Human Resources at CalPERS, the California Public Employee Retirement System. She is also an Adjunct Faculty member at the University of San Francisco teaching Human Resource Administration
Greg Gottlieb
Politics, 1976
Gregory Gottlieb, Politics, 1976, retired in 2017 from the U.S.Agency for International Development as Assistant Administrator for Democracy, Conflict, and Humanitarian Assistance. He's now a professor at Tufts University, and Director of the Feinstein International Center, which does research on international humanitarian assistance. We welcome all Lumberjacks.
Lawrence E. (Larry) Liles

Lawrence E. (Larry) Liles, Politics, 1969, dropped out of law school over a conflict with the role of law versus justice, which he learned later was a moral position. He completed a four-year union electrical apprenticeship, taught the same for four years, and then was elected twice as Business Manager for IBEW Local 413 in Santa Barbara. He was appointed in 1992 as an IBEW International Representative in the Washington D.C. headquarters and worked primarily in their Research Department representing workers interests in many venues. He raised three stepchildren and two of his own. He retired early in 2010 to spend time with a late son. He's now living in the Virginia Piedmont, the east side of the Blue Ridge Mountains, doing genealogy, and is active in Scouting and the SAR.
