Project Description
This project looks into developing a certificate in Appropriate Computing, adapting the principles of Appropriate Technology to the context of AI. This project will empower students to drive AI development toward a more sustainable future. The certificate will be the first of its kind. It featured a series of talks by Jaron Lanier- the "inventor" of virtual reality, Mark D. Parman- Cherokee elder and ecologist, Mark van der Laan- Statistician and co-director of the Center for Machine Learning and Casual Inference at UC Berkeley, and Tajana Šimunić Rosing- Director of the System Energy Efficiency Lab at UC San Diego.
