"Mad River Ranchers Described as Angry at Water Diversion" Letter to Eureka City Council by Paul Williamson warning them not to let fifteen thousand dollars of options expire. He, as a previous R/W agent for the city, secured these options in 1933-34 at the request of Frank Sweasy. Ranchers are angry over damage to their lands due to the diversion of water and intend to file suit as soon as the options expire. He secured options on 3000 acres of land at $5/acre and these options were only for five years. The ranchers contend that salt water has backed up on several farms due to decrease in flow to Mad River. Damages have occurred.
