Arcata is conducting work on the "children's playground" one block east of the plaza. Concrete tile is being placed to facilitate drainage from a small creek that divides the playground. Sand will be brought in from Brainards Point to a depth of 1 ft. Funds for the site & its improvements were first left by George Markham estate, who several yrs ago, deeded one block to the city. The city council raised additional funds for purchase of a second block.
