Text: John Berka, agent for the Arcata & Mad River railroad filed a petition with the Board of Harbor Commission to extend the wharf 500' feet at a 40-50' feet width. Up to 11 vessels were loading all at once several times this past year. The wharf is one of the principle points of shipments of lumber on the bay, the output from 6 sawmills going out on the wharf.
