There was a jubilee celebration for Mrs. Zadre Axe, who has been a member of the Methodist Church. Her mother, Mrs. Elvira Ann Howard, crossed the plains with her father, Major Elijah Howard, arriving in San Francisco in September 1849. The Howard family came to Humboldt County in April 1850 and settled at Howard's Point. Her husband was Fred Axe, formerly postmaster of Eureka.
