Article on the famous China landslide of the Chinese News Years day in 1890. The river upstream became a mile wide and 180' feet deep. Due to heavy precip. the entire hillside 3,000' feet long and 1,200' feet wide and 300' feet deep gave way and avalanches down into the Trinity River. A cabin owner in the morning saw a 60' foot high backwater wave and run upriver to Dan Juan to worn settlers there.
