Text: The B.O.S. discussed problems dealing with sawdust from the mills. They also discussed the proposed sanitary landfill in Arcata next to the sewage plant. Shaller stated the City of Arcata has 1,500 acres available for a dump. Dredging material from the bay would provide adequate fill to cover the garbage. The area could easily handle garbage from Arcata and Eureka and would allow the closing of the Fickle Hill dump. In other business the Broad agreed to tear down a covered bridge at Mattole leaving 3 remaining: two on Elk River and one at Cannibal Island west of Loleta.
