Text: The contract for the steel truss over the Mad River on the Redwood Highway was awarded to Butte Construction Company of San Francisco by the State Public Works Department of Sacramento. The bridge will be located approximately 700 feet downstream of the present covered bridge and will consist of 2-150 foot spans on concrete piers and 400 feet of timber-trestle approaches. Bids for the construction of the new Redwood Highway from Arcata to Mad River will be opened in Sacramento on May 10.
