Calvin Stewart visited Eureka. He said work on his wharf at the mouth of the Mattole was progressing slowly because of the delay in receiving the necessary materials. The wharf will be done before winter but shipping of tanbark won't begin until next spring. His company's locomotive and rolling stock is on the way from the east and should arrive soon.
