Text: Camp Curtiss tablet was dedicated at 10 AM Saturday. The tablet is in memory of the military camp, the soldiers of the state of CA. known as "The Mountaineers." Mary Brizard Todd worked to secure the marker before she died and the 30' X 30' plot she got Noah Falk to donate the spot on the exact site of the old camp. The tablet was unveiled by Dorothy Todd, granddaughter of Mrs. Todd. Heenan Ensign was present - he fought under Capt. George Owsley who was in command of Ft. Curtiss from 1862-64.
