Text: The City of Arcata celebrated its 62 birthday. On Nov. 20, 1867, President Andrew Jackson signed a certificate that gave the city its legal and political entity. The charter #665 hangs today in the City Hall. Up until Oct 21, 1867, the community was known as Uniontown.
