Text: Yesterday the COE asked that Congress authorize a $2.65 dollar project on the lower 4 miles of Redwood creek at Orick to prevent flooding. Charles Sheller of Humboldt County Public Works noted that the BOS had requested the COE do a flood study of Redwood Creek in 1953. Sheller said studies have been in progress since then & the COE studied all alternate methods of flood control such as dams, diversions & that levees were found to be the best solution. The county has to acquire the necessary easements & R/W.
