Text: There was a cold spell in January 18888. About 6 feet of snow stayed on the ground about a week. The pond on Ricks Prairie was frozen. Ricks Prairie ran from Trinity Station out to Sequoia Park. The pound was located about where Hamilton's house is on J street and occupied about 4 blocks. In those day the water system was owned & operated by Ricks Water Company. His wells and tanks were located where the Log Cabin Bakery is (in 1932) and the house between 3rd & 5th and E & G were the users of his water.
