One tells of him driving his Maxell 2 cylinder 1905 car from Orick, up to the Bold Hills and down to Martins Ferry. This was the first car to cross the Klamath at Martin's Ferry. The county road from Bald Hills to Martins Ferry was completed in late 1908/early 1909. He goes on to say the construction of the road from Martin's Ferry to Orleans continued and he drove to Orleans to visit the Salstrom family in 1912. He was born Jan. 9, 1867 & lived in Humboldt County since 1885. He was 94 when he died last Saturday Aug 26th. When he first arrived from Onsala, Sweden, he lived with his aunt and uncle, Mr. & Mrs. Isaac Collberg, who had come to Arcata in 1853. Young Isaac was instrumental in bringing electric lighting to Arcata in 1895. On 4/23/1895 lights were supplied to the streets of Arcata.
