Text: The State Diversion of Water Resources is conducting, for the first time, a comprehensive study on the effects of industrial waste discharge into Humboldt Bay. They will find out if these discharges have any deleterious effects or impair the waters of Humboldt Bay for beneficial use, such as shellfish culture, fishing, boating and navigation. The study was orchered made by the Regional Board at the request of the Humboldt County Health Director, Dr. Myron Hasband, and through the NC water Pollution Control Board. If they determine their industrial wastes impair the water for beneficial uses, then it will be incumbent on the Regional Board to prescribe discharge regents to those industries that are discharging industrial wastes.
