Text: The contract for the steel truss bridge over the Mad Riv. on the RW highway was awarded to Butte Constr. Co. of S.F. by the state P.W. Dept at Sacramento. The bridge will be located approx. 700' downstream of the present covered bridge and will consist of 2-150' spans on concrete piers and 400' of timber-trestle approaches. Bids for the constr. of the new RW highway from Arcata to Mad RV will be opened in Sacramento on May 10.
