Text: While the contractor was digging the trenches to install the new storm sewer down 5th street, he hit all the leftover wooden Railroad ties that were left in place when the city took up the rails. Construction of the street railways was started in 1921. Of interest, 2 bond issues were floated at $320,000 to build the railways & the final payment last July of $ 5,330 paid off the bonds.
