Text: The County Health Dept. took another step forward towards opening a dump near Orick. They call it a sanitary landfill. They also are operating 3 other so - called landfills - one at Thorne, one between Petrolia and Thorne , one at Hoopa. Negotiations are underway for an 80 parcel on the bay at Arcata which will take care of Arcata & Eureka. Landowners have approved 4 additional locations at Bull Creek, Rio Dell, Orleans and Blocksburg. In the remainder of the county there are some 12 open dumps.
