In 1919 the Cornelios & John Doly took their families to the Englewood Inn for a summer vacation. They bought the 160 acre ranch & improved the propenty over the years that followed. The river side of the ranch adjoins the Eel River's famous High Rock pool. Fred Childs bought 200 acre in 1912. A one room log school built in 1875 is on their ranch. The former owner's wife taught school there until 1909, when it was closed following completion of a new school in Holmes.
