Arcata Arcata Community Forest

Arcata plans to dedicate the Arcata Community Forest on Thursday May 19th. The 600 acre forest was set aside in December by the Council. This came about after a recommendation by the Arcata Redwood Circle of the Redwood Region Conservation Council. Brousse was chair of the Council and worked on this for two years. The idea was to form a community forest around the old Arcata City Park. The Redwood trees are 75 years old. The forest was logged in 1880.
