Text: Arcata plans to dedicate the Arcata Community Forest on Thursday May 19th. The 600 acre forest was set aside in December by the Council. This came about after a recommendation by the Arcata Redwood Circle of the Redwood Region Conservation Council. Brousse was chair of the Council and worked on this for two years. The idea was to form a community forest around the old Arcata City Park. The Redwood trees are 75 years old. The forest was logged in 1880.
