Text: Description of Eureka & Humboldt Bay. The bar outside the entrance has 11' feet of water at low tide & from 18'-20' feet at high tide. The channel deaths average about 4 fathoms. About 500 vessels enter the harbor per year. These vessels draw 8'-13' feet of water. Much money has been spent on grading streets, opening out new planking crossings and building sidewalks. The streets & buildings are lit with gas. South Park Race Track exists (at Bucksport) ?? The Myrtle Grove Cemetery is about a mile east of the city.
