Text: A dike is under construction by Bracut Lumber Company on the west side of 101 2.5 miles south of Arcata next to highway 101. The project will reclaim 275 acres of bay tidelands. The south arm runs west about 1,500 feet. The outer dike will be 3,492.7 feet long and the northern dike will be 3,704 feet. They found an artesian well on the perimeter that flowed 100,000 gpd. The dike will be 12' feet high & have a 12' feet wide top & should be completed over the next 2 years.
