Text: Dr. J.S. Menefee died in Napa County yesterday. He came to Arcata at the age of 2 in 1877. In 1903 he was one of a group of men that worked to preserve the plaza. It was a cow pasture and a pump (sic) ground. They put a curb around it and graded and leveled it.
