Text: In the early to mid 1850's a park was established in Arcata bounded by 12th, 13th , G, & H (Wildberry now) it was surrounded by redwood forest on the N & E sides. The Kuschel and Dressel prints drawn on stone in 1857 show woman & child standing in this park. "On the highest point in the center," described by Charles Murdock as the location of the flagstaff.
