"Eureka first Safeway Store nears Completion" The new safeway at 5th & E will given in the next few days. Safeway originated in 1915 in American Falls, Idaho. The building they will occupy was formerly occupied by the Humboldt Fruit Company. At this time Safeway operates ~ 3,200 stores in 23 States , Canada , & Hawaii.
