Article on the route contemplated for the expressway through Arcata. It was noted that the proposed route had been under consideration for 9 years & that with the new route about 5,500 vehicles out of 10,000 vehicles currently passing through Arcata would be able to bypass the town. Len Yokum, veteran HC Supervisor, was concerned about losing part of the ballpark. Several other locals testified. Two State Highway Comm members held a public hearing in the Veterans Memorial Building on the matter. Most of those who testified were in favor of the proposed route.
