Highway contractor Fairbanks says the fill at Mill Creek will be completed in about 10 days. It shouldn't settle because its made of solid rock that was blasted out of rocky point, better known as Cape Horn. The steam shovel had to be moved back each time a blast was set off. The reopening of the main highway will save the public the long detour over the hill by the Lorentzen Ranch. The detour was put in splendid cond. by Superv. Anderson, the road being widened and gravelled and the bad grades out down. Possibly the rock quarry NE of Mad River Bridge that old Caltrans men have mentioned.
