Long discussion of the fires set after trees have been cut in an area. The fires burn the slash & brush + thus make it easier to get the logs down to a stream. However the problem is; the fires burn into the adjacent uncut forests & often as much valuable timber is burned as that which was cut. The adjacent forests are often government owned land.
