Place: Brainerds Point Arcata Eel River

Text: About a foot of water covered 101 between Brainerds Point and Arcata. The old road is being used from Little River to Trinidad due to slides at Trinidad Bluff. Yesterday morning the Eel at Island Mtn was 48' feet high & receding. The water was a foot above the floor of Orick School. The logging trestle across the N. FK. Mad River was destroyed. The trestle at Camp 22 was also washed away. Eel River peaked at 4pm yesterday (Monday 2-21-1927). P.J. Mulley, dairy rancher on Sandy Prairie Road near the old East Ferry a mile south of Fortuna, last a large barn - the Eel eroded about 5 acres of his land.Camp Weott near mouth of Salt River - was cut off by high water. Several Ferndale couples attending a party at the Lee Reinhart cabin were forced to stay over the weekend.
