Text: Harris Merces has taken the contract erecting the buildings + wharf at the new tannery about to be erected on Freshwater Slough. The steam shovel of the Eureka + EK RW RR company which is digging in the bluff near Fields Landing, recently displaced the skeleton of an Indian who had been buried on the top of the hill.
