Text: The new section of Highway 101 from Cloverdale to Hopland is almost completed. It is un-surfaced and has only 49 curves compared to 276 " S" curves on the old route. The new route is called the Pieta Grade which follows the Russian River. This old 17 mile section was one of the worst in the state as it had steep grades and tight curves. It crossed 7 summits.
