Text: The state Highway Commission has decided the best route for a highway from the Sacramento Valley to Eureka is down the Trinity River via Redding – Weaverville – Trinity River. Thus ended in long competition between the Red Bluff – Peanut route versus the Redding – Trinity River route. The 299 route will be built using some of the $15 million bond issue. The Forest Service has already spent $71,000 on this 299 route and this year will spend $30,000.
