Text: History of attempt to constr. a RR from Hum. Bay to Eel River. In the early 1880's Carson and Vance completed a RR from Fields Landing to Alton known as the Eel River. and Eureka RR. Up until 1885 passengers going south out of Eureka took a ride on the bay boat Onietta from Eureka to Fields Landing. In 1885 J.M. Lennon was hired to constr. the section of RR from Fields Landing to Eureka across the marsh lands.
