Text: History of Blocksburg by Susie Baker Fountain. Blocksburg was originally called Powelville named after Joseph James Powell. He died July 6, 1884. Benjamin Blocksburg came in 1872 and died in May 1914. Blocksburg improved fast in 1876. There's a photo of the town in the pack train days.
