Text: History of Fort Humboldt as written by high school students. One item of interest - the trail to Eureka from Fort Humboldt in 1853 followed along todays Broadway and Summer Street. Grant spent a lot of time at Brett's store located at First and F streets. Eureka back then was low, wet and swampy.
