John T. Young wrote corrections to same of the statements made in the articles "Up The Coast" by Horace Wright in describing Eureka history. John stated that Brett's tent was set up in April 1850 on the lot now occupied by the Odd Fellow's building next to the alley facing an F street. He later moved into a 2 story frame building 20' feet X 50' feet on the corner of F & the alley, a portion of which building is still standing and now occupied by Ryan, tailor, McLaren, shoemaker. The Ryan house at 2nd & E was built in 1854.
