Text: Charles Mulberg died in Arcata last month. Old timers claim he was the only survivor of the Indian Island massacre in Feb.1860. They said a small baby was found alive the next morning. It was adopted by a German family numed Mulberg. He grew up, taking their name, and died at age 68. Such is the story the old times tell, most of whom heard it from their elders. who lived at the time.
