Text: Ethel wrote on May 16, 1904, the Mr. Hendricks came up in his automobile. It is the 1st one that has been up, so caused quite a sensation. (SBF noted he was one of 17 auto owners in Eureka according to an article in Oct. 1903. Mr. Loveron brought the 1st horseless carriage to Eureka in 1899. No one made it to Crescent City until 1908, when Dr. Fountain and Harlow Reed did it in 7hrs 20mins.)
